The company’s groov EPIC edge programmable industrial controller combines real-time control, I/O, visualization, networking and data-handling capabilities within an embedded Linux-based platform. It supports technologies including OPC UA, MQTT with Sparkplug, Node-RED and REST interfaces, giving engineers several ways to exchange operational data while retaining control over network architecture and system access.
Independent Ethernet interfaces allow engineers to segment control, enterprise, and internet and cloud communications according to the requirements of the application. The platform also supports local visualization and browser-based access, helping consolidate control, operator interface and connectivity functions within a common industrial system.
Opto 22 also develops groov RIO edge I/O, SNAP I/O, programmable automation controllers and solid-state switching products. Groov RIO can be used for distributed sensing, remote monitoring and data acquisition close to field equipment, including applications where information must be collected from assets that are not connected to a conventional control system.
The company’s products are applied across machine automation, process control, energy management, remote operations, water and wastewater, oil and gas, power generation and other environments involving mixed equipment generations or multiple communication protocols. Open communication support is especially relevant to facilities modernizing legacy systems without replacing every installed controller, sensor or production asset.
