Emerson has introduced DeltaV™ Edge Environment 2.0, the latest version of its edge technology designed to enhance batch data integration across life sciences, chemical processing, and other batch process industries. The updated platform helps manufacturers improve batch consistency, quality, and innovation by providing seamless access to operational data for analytics, AI, and enterprise IT applications—whether on-premises or in the cloud.
Bridging OT and IT for Enhanced Data Mobility

Batch processing operations often require data reconciliation, aggregation, and validation, creating a need for seamless data mobility to integrate critical data across the enterprise. However, traditional technologies make control system data integration—essential for key business decisions—difficult, costly, and risky.
DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 addresses these challenges by bridging the gap between operational technology (OT) control systems and information technology (IT) applications. It achieves this through one-way egress of control system data via a secure, read-only replica of contextualized DeltaV distributed control system data. With access to comprehensive control data at the edge or in the cloud, teams can overlay batch data with process values to identify performance deviations in real-time. This increased visibility empowers teams to intervene earlier, reducing the risk of costly, off-specification batches.
Driving Batch Process Visibility and Efficiency
The latest DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 enhancements include:
- Batch Data Integration – Enables overlaying batch data with process values to identify anomalies and optimize production outcomes.
- Improved System Visibility – Aligns with control system configuration hierarchies, clarifying how configuration changes impact batch execution.
- Advanced Root Cause Analysis – Correlates batch-related alarms and events with broader system events, allowing OT teams to identify and resolve production issues faster.
DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 also integrates with the control system configuration hierarchy, helping teams understand how system modifications impact batch execution. Additionally, OT teams can correlate batch-related alarms and events with other system events, enabling faster identification and resolution of production issues.
“Life sciences operations rely on data democratization to optimize and validate their production. Emerson’s Boundless Automation vision, where data silos are eliminated, will empower cross-functional teams to develop the business decisions necessary to drive competitive advantage,” said Claudio Fayad, vice president of technology for Emerson’s process systems and solutions business. “Emerson’s DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 not only unlocks that level of data mobility but does so while preserving essential batch and process context to improve operational certainty.”
