Asset Tracking and Management Software and Design Tools

Emerson has announced the release of AMS Machine Works version 1.8, the latest iteration of its condition monitoring and asset management software platform. Designed to support a broad range of process-intensive industries, the new version enhancesdata integration across Emerson’s modern AMS hardware portfolio while improving interface usability and cybersecurity compliance.

The software consolidates machine health data from both automated and manually collected sources into a centralized platform, providing greater transparency into asset performance and more efficient access to actionable diagnostics. Industries served include oil and gas, petrochemical, life sciences, mining, power generation, and water utilities, among others.

By aligning with Emerson’s Boundless Automation℠ strategy, AMS Machine Works v1.8 supports the seamless contextualization and movement of asset health data from the plant floor to higher-level digital infrastructure. The software unifies data from all current-generation AMS condition monitoring systems, simplifying configuration and enabling more informed reliability-centered maintenance decisions.

“Plant reliability and maintenance teams have no shortage of data, but often do not have the time or expertise to free that data from a wide array of disparate systems to make it available to the critical automation tools that turn data into actionable insights,” said Erik Lindhjem, vice president and general manager of Emerson’s reliability solutions business. “AMS Machine Works version 1.8 provides comprehensive machine health data via a single, intuitive dashboard, making it easy for users of any experience level to make the best decisions.”

The latest version introduces direct compatibility with the AMS 2140 Machinery Health Analyzer, allowing for seamless ingestion of manually acquired vibration and diagnostic data into the centralized system database. This integration enables teams to maintain a unified machine health dataset, reducing redundancy and streamlining workflows.

Version 1.8 also incorporates a redesigned user interface featuring improved dashboard views, drag-and-drop capability, and simplified navigation structures to reduce training overhead and improve adoption across user groups.

To support critical asset protection strategies, the update adds data acquisition support for the AMS 6500 ATG agent, bringing machinery protection system inputs into the unified platform. Additional updates include enhanced user and license management tools and expanded support for modern authentication protocols, providing IT teams with improved control and increased cybersecurity posture.
