The new FAULHABER BX4 Integrated Motion Controller with servo controller and 12-bit encoder is said to be the industry’s smallest.

Integrated into the robust brushless motors, the new FAULHABER Integrated Motion Controller BX4 IMC offers an extensive range of functions and reliable performance. The motor extension is only 18mm and includes a full-featured servo controller and a 12-bit encoder. Full motor performance can be achieved across all variations.

The RS232 interface version can be integrated from a PC or via an embedded master and can be controlled using a single master port. The CANopen version is ideal for industrial automation networks. Fully compliant with the CiA 402 servo drive standard, the system supports direct integration with typical PLCs. Everyday tasks, such as homing a drive, can be executed directly by the integrated motion controller using its local digital and analog I/Os.

In addition, both versions can also operate in “stand-alone” mode without a master. In this mode, the digital and analog I/Os can be used for local control tasks or discrete set points and actual values. The compact 22xx…BX4 IMC can also be combined with various products from the FAULHABER range, including compact GPT gearheads and new FAULHABER 22L linear actuators.

A built-in current control feature, which includes a diagnostic function, protects the motion control system against overloading and allows the new Integrated Motion Controller BX4 IMC to support torque, velocity, and position control according to the servo-drive standard.

The motors have low EMC emissions and are CE-marked. Brushless motors with the new Integrated Motion Controller BX4 IMC are available in two lengths, each offering a favorable volume-to-performance ratio and dynamic control characteristics. They are suitable for use across a variety of applications, including medical and laboratory technology, automation technology, robotics, and specialized industrial machinery.

The diameter-conform design provides end-users with a compact, complete solution that minimizes space, resources, and wiring requirements. The system is ready to connect to applications for immediate use. In addition, FAULHABER Motion Manager 7.1 software, which is available to end-users free of charge, provides easy configuration and system integration, along with an intuitive user interface and easy access to extended diagnostic functions. Programming adapters for RS232, CANopen, and USB are available as optional accessories to facilitate a quick start.
