MISUMI Americas has announced MISUMI Ventures, a new $50 million early-stage investment fund focused on frontier hardware, robotics, automation, physical AI and industrial software. Based in Silicon Valley, the fund is intended to support emerging technology companies with both investment capital and access to the engineering, manufacturing and supply-chain resources required to move physical products from prototype into scalable production.
MISUMI Group plans to formally establish MISUMI Venture Capital Fund I, LP in Delaware in October 2026, with its first investment expected by year-end. MISUMI Ventures intends to build a portfolio of approximately 20 to 30 seed and early-stage companies, with initial investments typically ranging from $500,000 to $1.5 million and additional capital reserved for follow-on rounds. During its early years, the fund expects to invest alongside established Silicon Valley venture firms rather than routinely leading rounds.
The investment strategy is weighted toward frontier hardware and automation, including robotics, factory automation and advanced manufacturing systems, as well as frontier AI and industrial software spanning supply-chain intelligence, autonomous manufacturing and generative design. MISUMI also plans to consider selected investments across adjacent markets including aerospace, eVTOL, satellite technologies, climate technology and medical devices.

MISUMI Ventures’ inaugural $50 million fund will focus on early-stage companies developing robotics, automation, physical AI, advanced manufacturing systems and industrial software, combining investment capital with access to MISUMI Americas’ manufacturing and supply-chain infrastructure.
For companies developing robotics and other physical technologies, access to capital is only one part of the commercialization challenge. Moving from a functional prototype to repeatable production requires mature mechanical design, manufacturability, qualified sourcing, tolerancing, quality control, assembly planning and a supply chain capable of scaling without disrupting the underlying product architecture. Those demands become especially important as intelligent machines move from development environments into sustained commercial deployment.
MISUMI Ventures is being structured around that transition. Portfolio companies will have access to MISUMI Americas’ standard, configurable and custom manufacturing capabilities, along with mechanical bill-of-material support, automated design-for-manufacturing feedback and multi-region sourcing and production resources. The model is intended to bring manufacturing considerations into the development process earlier, rather than treating production as a separate challenge after the product has already been designed.
“Our Global Investment Vision is a commitment to be where industrial innovation actually happens, and today that is increasingly in North America,” said Arata Shimizu, Representative Director and President of MISUMI Group Inc. “MISUMI Ventures lets us support the companies defining the next era of manufacturing early in their growth, and to learn from them. It is a long-term investment in our customers, our technology and our relevance.”
The fund forms part of MISUMI Group’s broader growth-investment strategy, under which the company plans to invest up to 150 billion JPY over approximately three years across global expansion, digital transformation, entry into growth industries and other strategic initiatives. Robotics and humanoid systems are among the areas identified for future growth, alongside continued investment in AI-enabled industrial technologies and manufacturing infrastructure.
That direction is particularly relevant as physical AI advances from research and pilot deployments into broader industrial use. Intelligent robots and autonomous manufacturing systems may depend heavily on AI software, sensing and computing, but successful commercialization still relies on the physical systems beneath them. Frames, stages, actuators, motion components, fabricated parts and assemblies must all be sourced, manufactured and reproduced consistently as deployment volumes increase.
“We have watched a generation of talented hardware teams get stuck at the transition to production. That is a supply chain problem, and it is the one problem we are unusually good at solving,” said Dave Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer of MISUMI Americas. “MISUMI Ventures is not a passive check. When we invest, a founder gets an engineering and supply chain team that can quote in minutes, deliver parts in a day, and scale them to thousands of units without changing vendors. That is the most valuable thing we can put on a cap table.”
According to MISUMI, portfolio companies will have access to support across the mechanical bill of materials, including standard, configurable and custom-fabricated components through an integrated digital sourcing workflow. The company also identifies automated design-for-manufacturing feedback, certified manufacturing capabilities and multi-region production as part of the infrastructure intended to support companies as they move toward commercial scale.
MISUMI Ventures is being organized as a dedicated venture fund rather than solely as a corporate balance-sheet investment program. Its structure includes a separate management company and general partner, with an investment committee combining fund partners and MISUMI executives. MISUMI Group’s corporate filing identifies MISUMI Investment USA Corporation as the fund’s limited partner and a planned fund term of 10 years.
The launch reflects a broader convergence taking place across industrial automation, robotics and advanced manufacturing, where investment, product development and production infrastructure are becoming increasingly interconnected. As more intelligent machines progress from prototypes into factories, warehouses and other physical environments, the ability to manufacture complex hardware reliably and at scale becomes as consequential as the software and algorithms controlling it. MISUMI Ventures is placing that manufacturing transition at the center of its investment model.
