Mouser Electronics has introduced a new online automation resource center aimed at supporting engineers working in industrial automation. The platform offers up-to-date information on advances in control systems, robotics, and next-generation industrial automation technologies. To assist engineers in obtaining the latest technology content, Mouser’s new resource center curates material across a range of key topics, including:

Industry 5.0 and the Shift Toward Human-Centric Design
First proposed by the European Commission in 2022, Industry 5.0 emphasizes human-centricity, sustainability, and resilience over traditional profit-centric approaches. This evolution encourages circular economic models, digital sustainability, and enhanced workforce upskilling across industrial environments.

Open-Source Approaches to Industrial Automation
Open-source technologies are playing an increasingly central role in reshaping industrial automation, offering manufacturers increased flexibility, cost-efficiency, and security. Benefits include interoperability, vendor independence, and collaborative, community-driven system development.

Sensors and Data Analytics for Smart Manufacturing
Sensors and analytics underpin the success of Industry 5.0 by enabling real-time process feedback, energy efficiency, and enhanced product quality. Advanced sensors also support safer collaboration between humans and industrial robots. Leveraging these insights, and by using both long-term and real-time data, predictive maintenance strategies can minimize system downtime and reduce repair costs.

Mouser’s industrial automation content hub is developed in ongoing collaboration with its in-house technical team and trusted supplier partners. These resources are designed to help engineers explore next-generation manufacturing technologies and build advanced industrial automation solutions.

“Our commitment to engineering excellence means equipping designers with a strategic toolkit of in-depth insights and a wide range of products,” said Eric Wendt, Mouser Vice President of Supplier Management. “Through the content hub, our goal is to empower manufacturing professionals to design safer, more efficient systems that meet the evolving demands of modern manufacturing.”

Among the hub’s featured products for Industrial Automation:

    • The IDEC FT1J All-in-One PLC and HMI delivers a compact, high-performance solution for diverse industrial control applications. Combining a programmable logic controller (PLC) with a 4.3-inch projected capacitive (PCAP) human-machine interface, the unit supports multi-touch input, thin glove use, and water droplet resistance. A dual CPU architecture optimizes scan times and flexibility, making the series well-suited for use within modern industrial environments.
    • Siemens LOGO! 8.4 logic modules offer a compact and flexible interface solution and combine an integrated display, onboard EEPROM memory, and built-in control panel for control programming. These modules support a wide range of essential logic functions, including pulse edge evaluation, timing, counting, and analog function blocks. With native cloud connectivity and support for open MQTT communication, the LOGO! 8.4 series allows for seamless connection to the cloud for as-needed access to live data. The modules can also serve as a cloud gateway for existing automation systems.
    • The Banner Engineering self-contained K50Z multipoint optical sensor leverages 3D Time-of-Flight technology to provide reliable nearest-distance and angled target measurements with 64 points. The sensor captures the nearest distance and average height over a vast 45° x 45° field of view up to 2 meters. Ideal for industrial fill or area detection, the sensors feature a compact IP67 housing, dual discrete outputs, and configurable settings via IO-link or Banner Measurement Sensor Software.
    • The Advantech ICAM-540 Industrial AI Camera is a durable, intelligent camera powered by the NVIDIA® Jetson Orin™ module. It is designed for real-time industrial image processing and analytics, including within harsh factory conditions. This compact, fanless device integrates lighting, vision, and edge computing. Its web UI and extensive software support further simplify integration for machine vision ISVs, enabling full solution development.
