The New Albany, Indian-based Samtec, a privately held global manufacturer of a broad line of electronic interconnect solutions, has introduced Generate™ high-speed edge card sockets (HSEC6-DV Series), tailored for 64 Gbps PAM4 (32 Gbps NRZ) applications and PCIe® 6.0 compatibility. Positioned as a cornerstone in prototypical PCIe 6.0 AI hardware designs, the HSEC6-DV serves as the vital interconnect between motherboards and add-in cards.
The HSEC6-DV’s rugged Edge Rate® contacts, in a differential pair configuration on 0.60 mm pitch, are optimized for signal integrity performance and high cycle life.
Compliant with SFF-TA-1002 x4 (1C), x8 (2C), x16 (4C and 4C+), the edge card socket strip is customizable with 28, 42, 70, and 84 positions per row, mating seamlessly with 1.60 mm (.062”) thick cards. Additionally, optional weld tabs bolster mechanical strength between the connector and PCB.
Engineered to meet RoHS standards, the HSEC6-DV is lead-free solderable, supports a 240 VAC rating, and offers a current rating of 1.92 A with 2 energized pins.
In tandem, mating cable assemblies (GC6 Series) further reinforce PCIe 6.0 compatibility, catering to 64 Gbps PAM4 (32 Gbps NRZ) applications. Employing 34 AWG Samtec Eye Speed® ultra-low skew twinax, these cable assemblies are available in 28, 42, and 70 positions, featuring standard 100-ohm differential pair signal routing.
The HSEC6-DV is the latest addition to Samtec’s comprehensive line of Generate™ high-speed edge card connectors. These connectors, rated up to 56 Gbps PAM4, are available in various configurations, including vertical, right-angle, edge mount, and pass-through orientations. Additionally, they offer versatile options such as power/signal combos, press-fit tails, locks, and latches.
